A media mogul, Rupert Murdoch has been engaged again to 67-year-old Elena Zhukova after four failed marriages.

According to the New York Times, the wedding will be in June 2024, with invitations sent out.

The former chairman of Fox and News Corp who is 92-year-old has been dating the Russian molecular biologist since last April.

Murdoch who has been married four times called off his engagement to former police chaplain Ann Lesley Smith just two weeks after being announced in April 2023.

Murdoch married his first wife, former flight attendant Patricia Booker, in 1956 and the couple had one daughter, Prudence.

After their divorce 11 years later, his second marriage to Anna Torv, a trainee journalist he met while she was working on one of his Australian titles, lasted more than 30 years.

At various times, each of their three adult children – Elisabeth, Lachlan, and James – appeared to have been in line to inherit his mantle. Murdoch had two further children – daughters Grace and Chloe – by his third wife Wendi Deng, whom he married in 1999, just three weeks after he divorced Anna.

In 2016, Murdoch surprised the world by marrying former model Jerry Hall – an ex-partner of Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger with whom she had four children. The marriage lasted six years before they too divorced.

Murdoch’s media empire, which started in Australia in the 1950s, included buying the News Of The World and The Sun in 1969, the New York Post, Wall Street Journal, and TV channel Fox News, which was launched in 1996.

Elena Zhukova on the other hand is a retired molecular biologist, specialising in diabetes research. Her contributions in this field include work conducted at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Originally from Moscow, Elena Zhukova moved to the United States in 1991, during the final years of the Soviet Union.

Ms Zhukova met Rupert Murdoch during a family gathering organised by his third former wife, Wendi Deng. Wendi Deng and Mr Murdoch were married for 14 years until their divorce in 2013.

Elena Zhukova was previously married twice, once to Russian oil billionaire, Alexander Zhukov. They have a daughter together, Dasha Zhukova, 42.

Elena Zhukova describes her family background as part of the “usual, normal Moscow intelligentsia,” highlighting her roots and connection to the cultural and intellectual milieu of Moscow.
