Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has declared that it would be a “tragic” setback for Nigeria if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not re-elected in 2027, warning that a change in leadership could derail the economic reforms currently underway.

 

Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a top member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the statement during a public address, urging party members to prioritize Tinubu’s re-election over personal political ambitions.

 

“The most profound thing I will say here today is that every single APC member in this country today should be concentrating on the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, irrespective of whether it affects your personal interest or not,” Keyamo said.

 

He stressed that Tinubu requires a second term to fully implement and complete the ongoing fiscal and economic policies aimed at stabilizing the nation’s economy.

 

“It will be tragic for any government to come in 2027 and stop these reforms. This is what has happened in the past where you have all kinds of inchoate policies being implemented,” he added, alluding to policy inconsistency under previous administrations.

 

Keyamo’s remarks reflect growing efforts within the ruling party to consolidate support around Tinubu amid continued public scrutiny over the impact of his reforms, especially in areas such as subsidy removal, exchange rate unification, and social intervention programs.
