Kayode Oke Strikes Again as Bendel Insurance Edge Kwara United in Ilorin

Kayode Oke Solomon continued his fine form for Bendel Insurance FC as he fired the Benin Arsenals to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kwara United on Match Day 33 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, played on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Ilorin.
The energetic forward netted the decisive goal in the 33rd minute, silencing the home crowd and securing a vital three points for the visitors. The win marks a double over Kwara United this season, following Bendel Insurance’s 3-0 first-leg triumph in Benin.
Oke’s latest strike comes just days after his historic hat-trick performance in the 2025 President Federation Cup Round of 32 against Adamawa United, where his goals powered Insurance to a 3-0 victory in Lafia. The in-form striker will now lead the charge as Bendel Insurance prepare to face Rangers International in the round of 16 on April 16 in Lagos.
The win in Ilorin also comes as a timely boost after a frustrating goalless draw against Rangers on Match Day 32 in Benin. Now with 49 points, Insurance have climbed to 5th place in the league standings and remain in strong contention as the season enters its final stretch.
Bendel Insurance will host Nasarawa United on Match Day 34 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Saturday, April 19.
Speaking after the match, Head Coach Greg Ikhenoba hailed his team’s performance, singling out Kayode Oke for special praise.
“Congratulations to the boys and the rest of us on the hard-earned victory, particularly Kayode Oke,” Ikhenoba said. “I’m happy we preserved what we got in the first half and ran away with it. This was the perfect response to the home draw with Rangers last week. This is just the beginning for Kayode — I want him to be prolific, and he shall be.”
