JOY OMEWA SCORES AS FORTUNA HJORRING CLINCH DANISH LEAGUE TITLE

Nigeria international Joy Omewa was on target once again as she helped Fortuna Hjorring secure the Danish Women’s League title following a 1-1 draw against Brøndby on Saturday.
Omewa, a former Confluence Queens star, opened the scoring for Fortuna in the first half, continuing her remarkable season in front of goal. However, Brøndby’s Dajan Hashemi equalized in the second half, forcing both sides to share the points.
Despite the stalemate, Fortuna Hjorring were crowned champions with three games to spare, amassing an unassailable 45 points from 21 matches—10 clear of second-placed Nordsjaelland.
Omewa, 23, remains the league’s top scorer with 18 goals and four assists, playing a pivotal role in Fortuna’s title-winning campaign. Her consistency and sharp finishing have made her one of the standout performers in Denmark this season.
Fortuna Hjorring will now turn their attention to the Danish Women’s Cup final, where they will face Nordsjaelland on May 17. The title celebration will be followed by league clashes against Aarhus, Odense Q, and Nordsjaelland to round off their dominant campaign.
Omewa’s prolific form will also be a huge boost for the Super Falcons as Nigeria prepares for upcoming international competitions.
