Veteran actor Jide Kosoko has shared a candid insight into the Nigerian movie industry, revealing that despite his six decades of experience and fame, he hasn't achieved significant wealth. Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, the 71-year-old film star explained that while he's comfortable, he doesn't consider himself rich by Nigerian standards.

"I've been in this industry for over 60 years, and I'm grateful to be able to provide for myself," Kosoko said. "However, the reality is that piracy has severely impacted our industry, and it's affecting our livelihoods."

Kosoko emphasized the need for harsher penalties for pirates, suggesting that fines alone are not enough to deter them. "If you fine a pirate N500 million, they'll just pay it from their ill-gotten gains," he said. "But if you attach a 20-year jail sentence, people will think twice before engaging in piracy."

With a career spanning over six decades, Kosoko has become a legend in Nollywood. He began acting as a child in 1964 and has since featured in hundreds of movies in both English and Yoruba languages. Despite the challenges facing the industry, Kosoko remains a passionate advocate for the rights of Nigerian filmmakers.
