As part of its yearly tradition, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Abayi-Ariaria, Aba, held its December 2025 Covenant Service, during which the Archdeacon and Vicar of the church, Venerable Michael Nwaubani, reminded worshippers that Jesus Christ is coming again.
Ven. Nwaubani gave the reminder during his sermon at the service held yesterday, urging Christians to live with constant awareness of the second coming of Christ. He spoke on the topic “I Come Quickly and Will Reward Everyone According to His Deeds.”
According to the Vicar, his message was drawn from several biblical passages, including Revelation 22:6–12, Matthew 25:14–30, Revelation 20:11–13, 1 Corinthians 15:18, and Revelation 6:9–11.
He explained that the teaching on the second coming of Jesus Christ is meant to encourage believers to be prayerful, careful in their actions, serious with their faith, and committed to living good and righteous lives. He emphasized that Christians should not delay repentance but remain steadfast in serving God.
Ven. Nwaubani further urged worshippers to live with the consciousness that the Lord’s return could happen at any time, calling on them to desist from evil ways and uphold godly values.
In his remarks, the Vicar also spoke against corruption, which he described as a major problem threatening the nation. He noted that Christians should hold firmly to their faith, adding that nothing would change what God has decided to do for His people.
The Covenant Service, which is observed annually, marked a period of reflection, renewal of commitment, and preparation for the year ahead among members of the church.
