JBC Obikwelu Redeems N1m Pledge To ANSFA As Support For State League

Barrister JBC Obikwelu, a former Vice Chairman of Anambra State Football Association, has confirmed release of the N1m he promised the State FA as support for the first State League which will officially kick off on 24 September, 2025, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.
Barrister Obikwelu, who is Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Disciplinary Committee, personally confirmed this development to Exclusivenews.com.ng.
"I've transfered the money to the Anambra State FA Account", Obikwelu said.
"I did that a few days ago. The FA needs support to carry out its laudable projects.
"The State League is a huge competition. No matter how much the sponsor brings, it won't just be enough, hence there's need for financial support from everyone".
The legal luminarian had promised to support the FA with the sum of N1m on 31 August, 2025, in Awka, during the opening ceremony of the Akubudike Energy Anambra State Football League Competition.
Obikwelu had acknowledged the good works the ANSFA is doing in re-engineering Football in the state through the grassroots.
He particularly heaped plaudits on the ANSFA leadership under Chikelue Iloenyosi, a former Super Eagles defender and commended his untiring efforts and initiatives.
