Japan won the FAIR PLAY TROPHY in six of the eleven editions of the U20 Women’s world cup in 2002; 2012; 2016; 2018, 2022 and now 2024.

Japan lost the U20 Women’s football final in Columbia to North Korea by a lone goal. 

North Korea lifted their 3rd title with a lone goal win over North Korea that won the Silver medals; United States of America on Saturday pushed Netherlands to the 4th place bagging the Bronze Medal. 

The only African to be listed for Awards in any tournament of this category is Asisat Oshoala of Nigeria who won the Golden Boot for top scorers with 7 goals in Canada 2014 same year she won Best Player of the Tournament Award. The Best Player in this Columbia 2024 Tournament is Il-son Choe of North Korea.

The Golden boot for highest scorer went to Il-son Choe of Japan who scored 6 goals; the Silver Ball went to Vendito of Brazil who scored 5 goals and the Bronze went to Maya Hijikata of Japan. 

Golden Boot from 2016 after Oshoala was Mami Ueno of Japan with 5 goals at New Guinea; Patricia Guijarro of Spain scored 6 goals to win it at France 2018 and at the last edition in Costa Rica 2022 it was Ima Gabarro also of Spain with 8 goals.

A total of 187 goals were scored in the 52 matches played which is 3.6 goals per match. There were  8 own goals at Columbia 2024 and two of those were conceded by Germany by Goal Keeper, Rebecca Adamczyk against Venezuela and by Jella Velt against USA. 

Best players of the Tournament form 2016 were Hina Sugita of Japan; in 2018, it was Patricia Guijarro of Spain while in 2022 it was Maika Hamano of Japan.

The Golden Glove for the Best Goal Keeper at Columbia 2024 went to Femke Liefting of Netherlands. Maike Kauser of Germany was Best Goal Keeper in 2014; Mylene Chavas of France won it in 2016; Sandy Maclver of England was the best in 2018 while Txell Font of Spain was the best in 2022.

The next tournament will take place in Poland in 2026.
