Ismail Zainab of Ekiti Queens has once again underlined her growing influence in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), finishing second in the voting for the Matchday Six Top Performer Award.

 

The official results, released after the conclusion of fans’ voting across nine centres, showed Zainab narrowly missing out on the top spot in a keenly contested race that attracted strong nationwide participation.

 

Zainab polled an impressive 1,170 votes, a result that reflects both her consistent on-field performances and her rising popularity among football supporters. Her display during Matchday Six ranked among the most impactful of the round, earning her widespread recognition across the league.

 

Reacting to the outcome, the Ekiti Queens midfielder expressed gratitude to her supporters for their continued backing.

 

“I sincerely thank all my fans for their support and for believing in me. Your votes mean a lot to me, and I promise to keep giving my best for Ekiti Queens,” Zainab said.

 

The latest result further reinforces her consistency this season. In Match Week Five, Zainab also finished second in the Top Performer voting with 807 votes, confirming her status as one of the standout performers in the NWFL Premiership.

 

The Matchday Six Top Performer Award was claimed by Seember Emmanuel of Confluence Queens, who topped the poll with 1,226 votes. Emmanuel delivered a memorable performance, scoring twice in a 3–0 away victory over Dannaz Ladies to secure the honour.

 

Other players who featured prominently in the voting included Oluwakemi Adegbuyi of FC Robo Queens, who placed third with 504 votes, Charity Isaiah of Delta Queens with 259 votes, and Atume Doosuur of Edo Queens, who garnered 77 votes.

 

As the NWFL Premiership season progresses, attention now turns to the upcoming fixtures, with expectations remaining high. For Ismail Zainab, another second-place finish serves not as a setback, but as a clear statement of consistency, dedication, and growing fan support within Nigerian women’s football.
