The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to remove the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its official portal as National Chairman and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), respectively.

 

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee.

 

According to the commission, the decision follows preservatory orders granted by the Court of Appeal in the case involving Senator David Mark and other parties.

 

INEC stated that its action is in compliance with the court directive tied to the suit marked CA/ABJ/145/2026: Senator David Mark v. Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe & Others.

 

In addition to removing the names from its records, the electoral body said it will suspend recognition of the ADC’s current leadership structure pending the final determination of the case by the court.

 

The move signals a deepening leadership dispute within the African Democratic Congress, with legal proceedings now set to determine the legitimacy of the party’s top officials.

 

INEC emphasized its commitment to upholding the rule of law, noting that it will continue to act in line with judicial pronouncements as the matter progresses.
