Government of Indonesia don begin enforce new law wey stop children wey never reach 16 years from using social media, because of serious concern about online safety.
Minister of Communications, Meutya Hafid, warn say all digital platforms must obey the new rule, adding say there “no space for compromise” for any company wey wan operate for the country.
Government talk say the decision come because of increasing cases of online pornography, cyberbullying, and internet addiction among young people.
Some platforms like X and Bigo Live don already adjust their minimum age requirement to follow the new regulation. Other social media companies dey expected to quickly update their apps, features, and services to meet the government standard.
Popular platform TikTok also confirm say dem go follow the rule and work together with the ministry to control accounts wey belong to users under 16.
Authorities say the move na to protect children from harmful online content and make sure say young users no get exposed to dangerous digital activities.
