Inaugural NAWFA League Kicks Off April 21
The Northern Amateur Women Football Association (NAWFA) has announced a new date for the kickoff of its inaugural league.
Initially scheduled to begin on April 11, the historic first edition will now commence on April 21, 2025.
Speaking on the development, NAWFA’s interim chairman, Moses Bako, explained that the postponement became necessary due to a clash with Plateau State government activities, and ongoing financial constraints.
“These factors, though unforeseen, would have compromised the quality and coordination of the event. Postponing allows us to realign our preparations and ensure we meet the standard we’ve set for this maiden edition,” he stated.
Bako emphasized that NAWFA is committed to delivering a well-organized and impactful competition that sets a strong precedent for amateur women’s football in the region.
“We believe that what is worth doing is worth doing well. Our focus is on excellence, not haste, to deliver a memorable event,” he said.
“We appreciate the patience and continued support of all stakeholders as we intensify preparations to make the league a success,” he added.
