As part of efforts to ensure his new team, Enyimba International F.C., hit the ground running in the 2026 league season and improve on recent fortunes, Coach Emmanuel Deutch has appointed former Abia Comets F.C. head coach Kelvin Ejeh as his First Assistant Coach.

The strategic appointment is seen as a significant move aimed at strengthening the technical crew of the Aba giants ahead of what promises to be a demanding campaign.

Deutch is believed to have admired Ejeh’s coaching credentials from his time at Abia Warriors F.C., where the coach—popularly called “Mouriho” by his admirers—served as a youth team coach before earning promotion to assistant coach. During his stint with the Warriors, he worked under notable tacticians including Imama Amapakabo and Erasmus Onuh Olota, gaining valuable top-flight experience.

Ejeh later took a major career step when he was appointed head coach of Abia Comets in the Nigeria National League at the start of the 2023/2024 season. He guided the team to a respectable finish in his debut campaign and replicated similar stability in the 2024/2025 season. His impressive run was recognised in December 2024 when he clinched the maiden NNL Best Coach of the Month award.

The addition of Ejeh is expected to bring tactical depth, youth development expertise, and strong league experience to Enyimba’s technical bench as they seek to reclaim dominance domestically.

Meanwhile, Enyimba showed encouraging signs of progress last weekend, putting up a spirited performance to earn a valuable point against Rivers United F.C. in Port Harcourt. The hard-fought draw has been described by fans as a positive foundation for the Deutch-led era.

With the 2026 season fast climaxing, expectations are high that the new technical partnership will steer Enyimba back to title contention.
