In the dark, helpless hours of the early morning of 29th December 2025, when families should have been resting in peace, terror once again descended on Uneme-Uzanu community. Suspected thugs loyal to Benjamin Ikani carried out yet another brazen and violent attack, further plunging the community into fear, trauma, and uncertainty.

The armed assailants, reportedly led by Alasa Amodu and Destiny Abu Ikani, arrived heavily armed with dangerous weapons, including locally made pistols. They stormed the residence of the newly installed Oliola, Alhaji Momodu Muhammadu Osiregbhemhe Adamu, showing complete disregard for human life, tradition, and the sanctity of leadership.

During the invasion, the attackers issued chilling death threats, warning that they would kill the Oliola and Mr. Boni Aliu if any attempt was made to resist or raise an alarm. The threat was not empty. Mr. Boni Aliu was physically assaulted, beaten and humiliated in his own community, while fear gripped everyone present.

As if the violence itself was not enough, the attackers went further to forcibly cart away the sacred traditional drum (Ukpagba) a powerful symbol of authority, culture, and identity along with other personal belongings. This act was not just theft; it was a deliberate assault on the heritage, dignity, and soul of the Uneme-Uzanu people.

This latest attack is not an isolated incident. It marks a dangerous escalation in a sustained campaign of violence allegedly carried out by Benjamin Ikani’s supporters against innocent, law-abiding members of the community, a pattern that has continued unchecked since 23rd December 2025. Homes have been violated, elders disrespected, lives threatened, and the peace of the land repeatedly shattered.

Even more heartbreaking is the fact that these incidents have been reported repeatedly to the appropriate security agencies, yet no arrests have been made. This troubling inaction has only emboldened the perpetrators, allowing lawlessness to flourish and leaving the community exposed, vulnerable, and abandoned.

The people of Uneme-Uzanu can no longer live under constant fear. Enough is enough. We therefore make a passionate and urgent appeal to all relevant security authorities to intervene immediately, restore law and order, protect lives and property, and ensure that those responsible for these criminal and violent acts are identified, arrested, and brought to justice.
Peace cannot return to Uneme-Uzanu until justice is done. Silence and delay will only invite more bloodshed. The community deserves safety, dignity, and the right to live without fear.
