The organizers of the annual  Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup,  has revealed that the second edition of the tournament which is aimed at giving meaning to fallen a heroine will hold from 11th to 17th December at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, Delta State. 

The first edition of the tournament was held  15th to 21st December 2022.

According to the initiator of the Program, Judith Chime, the reason behind the annual tournament is to remember a fallen heroine, Ifeanyi Chiejine who was once the youngest player that played in the Super Falcons. 

She said that the tournament which is now an annual event , will hold in Asaba from December 11 to 17 , 2023. She appealed to corporate individuals and sponsors to support the program to Immortalise the player who gave her all for the country. 

“ We are trying to immortalise her name and at the same time,  trying to see if we can get another Ifeanyi Chiejine from the young ones that will participate in the tournament". 

Ifeanyichukwu Stephanie Chiejine was born on 17th May 1983, and she died on 21st August 2019.  She last played for SSVSM-Kairat Almaty in the Kazakhstani Championship.She  also played for FC Indiana in the USA's W-League, KMF Kuopio and PK-35 Vantaa in Finland and Zvezda Perm in Russia.

She was a member of the Super Falcons that took part in Women’s World Cup  in  1999, 2003 and 2007  and the 2000 and 2008 Summer Olympics.

 She  scored 15 goals in 61 games for Nigeria.She died following a brief illness.
