Former Super Eagles defender, Ifeanyi Anaemena, has announced his resignation as Sporting Director of Kun Khalifat FC, a Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL side, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

The 33-year-old joined the 'Pride of Imo' in July 2025 following the KK Boys promotion to the top flight after success in the Nigeria National League, NNL Super 8 play-off in Asaba, Delta State.

He holds the enviable record as the only defender to have won the NPFL title three times with Enyimba (twice) and Remo Stars.

"Yes, I've resigned my appointment as Kun Khalifat FC Sporting Director", Anaemena exclusively confirmed to exclusivenews.com.ng Sunday morning.

"It's a difficult decision to take but that's the reality of life, very dynamic and it keeps evolving.

"I will eternally remain grateful to Michael Amaefule, the President of Kun Khalifat FC, for giving me opportunity to serve the young and wonderful Kun Khalifat FC in the capacity of Sporting Director.

"Moreso, he gave me the opportunity to transit from on-field player to an administrator. I couldn't be less thankful.

"While I wish the club success, I also wish the fans, supporters, staff and players the very best of campaign.

"I want to catch some rest for now before thinking of the next thing I do with my life. I remain grateful to all my fans, supporters and loyal fans of the club and beautiful game. God bless you all", Anaemena prayed.

Anaemena, during his illustrious career featured for FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Enyimba, Rivers United and Remo Stars as well as spells in Europe.
