The Third Edition of the Annual Judith Foundation Women Football Championship will get underway in Enugu on 13 December, 2024 with the final slated for 21 December, 2024, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

No fewer than 16 Women football teams have completed their registration formalities, thus, confirming their participation in the week-long Women football showpiece.

Checks by Exclusivenews.com.ng reveal that holders, Imo Strikers Queen, lead the rest of 15 teams ready to flex their soccer muscle in the Annual Championship put together by the foundation set up by former Nigeria Women International, Judith Chime.

The 16 teams, we understand, have been grouped into four with four teams each. According the organisers, two top finishers in each group after the round-robin league stage, will qualify for the knockout stage, which, in this case, is the quarter finals.

The participating clubs include Imo Strikers, Zohar Football Academy (Ebonyi State), Dissertation in Afrik, Ebonyi, Bravehearts (Benin),  Castmog (Abeokuta), Stardom (Bayelsa), Invincible Angels (Benue), Giant Empree (Aba), Phoenix Queens (Lagos) and Rising Star FC (Anambra).

Others include Moje Queens (Kwara State), Greenfoot Academy (Enugu), Fortress Ladies (Edo State),  Solo Wonders (Abia), Delta Babes (Delta State) and Salt Jewels FC of Ebonyi State.

According the organisers, teams are expected to arrive on December 12 with the competition slated to get underway on 13 December 2024.

It was also revealed that the participating teams were picked on 'first come, first served' basis.

The 2nd edition of the championship was staged in Asaba, Delta State, in 2023.
