If You Ask Me, The CHAN Eagles 23-Man Squad List May Have Been 'Doctored' -------- Victor Nwangwu

Former Secretary of Anambra State Football Association, Victor Nwangwu, has given his thought on Super Eagles B Team performance in the 2024 Championship of African Nations, CHAN, in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

Nwangwu, a former Rangers International star, believes the team's performance in the competition wasn't a true reflection of the NPFL Quality.

He pointed out that apparently because of time and departure of some key players to Europe after the qualification series, the coach opted to have a larger pool of the players from a particular team and 'paded' it with some other players from other clubs.

He reckoned that in his personal opinion, it won't be out of place to suggest that the final squad list selection process may have been 'compromised'.

"This is my my opinion, the team's performance in the CHAN wasn't a true picture or our league", Nwangwu began.

"Agreed, like we're told, that some of the players left for European clubs and the coach had to get replacements.

"Don't forget, Remo Stars had a fantastic facility. They were consistent throughout the season which could suggest that contributing many players to the CHAN team wasn't a fluke.

"But then, in my personal opinion, just my personal view, the CHAN Eagles final squad list may have been compromised given the team's disappointing performance in the tournament", Nwangwu emphasised.

In 1988, a greater chunk of Nigeria's squad list to the Seoul Olympic Games were from Iwuanyanwu Nationale of Owerri. And even though the team didn't win, their performance wasn't a total write-off.

In 2013, Nigeria won a bronze medal in the CHAN tournament in South Africa with Stephen Keshi in-charge.

Salisu Yusuf was Head Coach when Nigeria won silver medal in 2018 in Morocco.

"Let's leave sentiments aside and face reality for the interest of our Country.
The selection of players for the CHAN team looks 'compromised'.

In 2007 Coach Ladan Bosso was the Head Coach of the National U-20 team  as well as the Head Coach of Wikki Tourists FC Bauchi. His CHAN final squad list was 'never' compromised in any way as no single player from Wikki Tourists made the final team list.

Rather the likes of  Brown Ideye, Efe Ambros,  Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Elderson Echejiele, Chukwuma Akabueze, Femi Thomas amongst others were taken to the tournament.

These are set of players that late Coach Stephen Keshi used to conquer  Africa in 2013 in South Africa
