Emmanuel Amuneke, a former Super Eagles Player and Barcelona forward, has revealed that his sojourn to the Super Eagles remains a turning point for his football career. 

He said he doesn't have any regret whatsoever all through his playing career. 

Amuneke who once handled the Tanzania Senior National team handler, revealed this while featuring on a monitored social media sports interview monitored in Abuja. 

The former Barcelona player said that the match that cut short his football career was the match Nigeria played against Guinea Conakry where he sustained an serious injury.

The former African footballer of the year, however said he had no regret as each individual has his challenges, saying the most important thing was to forge ahead and open to new ideas.


Amuneke, who played for Zamalek of Egypt, Sporting CP of Portugal and Barcelona of Spain, and Albacete, guest played 27 times for Nigeria, scoring nine goals and was part of the team that participated at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States, scoring against Bulgaria and Italy.

He also helped the Super Eagles win the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia and was later voted African Footballer of the Year.

Amunike  also played all the games at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, scoring the winning goal in the final as the national team won the gold medal but sadly, Knee problems kept him out of the 1998 FIFA World Cup.

He later won Under – 17 World Cup in the year 2015.
