Former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently shared his personal journey of discovering he had 25% hearing loss during a visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman-Adamu.

Obasanjo recounted a time while abroad when he struggled to hear someone speaking to him. Initially unaware of any issues with his hearing, a medical examination later confirmed the loss. Interestingly, he also had his Chief Security Officer tested, only to find that he was even more deaf than Obasanjo.

This revelation prompted Obasanjo to establish the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, which has since assisted thousands of Nigerians in accessing ear treatment and hearing aids through a partnership with Starkey Hearing Foundation.

In addition to discussing healthcare, Obasanjo emphasized the urgent need to address the country’s security challenges.
