The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland and former Oyo State governor, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has accused former Osun State governor, Chief Bisi Akande, of lying about his role in the case of the late Chief Bola Ige’s assassination.

Speaking on Monday, Oba Ladoja refuted Akande’s claim that he withdrew the case while serving as governor. He demanded a public apology from Akande, warning that legal action would be taken if the statement was not retracted.

Ladoja clarified that Bola Ige was assassinated on December 23, 2001, while he assumed office as governor on May 29, 2003—18 months after the incident.

“I didn’t withdraw the case; my government didn’t withdraw any case. The case was prosecuted to the apex court,” he stated.

Ladoja accused Akande of making false claims, adding that he had always supported the prosecution of the case and remained deeply concerned about Ige’s death. He emphasized his close relationship with Ige and insisted he played no role in obstructing justice.
