Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, fresh off a remix with South African duo TitoM and Yuppe for their hit song "Tshwala Bam," has reignited the conversation about leadership in the Afrobeats scene.

In the opening verse of the remix, released last week, the singer, whose stage name is Burna Boy but known legally as Damini Ogulu, declares himself the "Godfather" of Nigerian music.  This isn't the first time Burna Boy has made such a claim.  Years ago, following his Grammy win, he called himself the "blueprint" of the industry, sparking similar debate.

Burna Boy isn't the only artist vying for the title.  Fellow Afrobeats giant Davido has also made claims to the top spot.  On his 2019 album "Timeless," Davido released a track titled "Godfather," directly asserting his dominance.

While music fans are sure to have their own opinions, one thing is certain: Burna Boy's appearance on the "Tshwala Bam" remix has reignited the conversation about leadership in Afrobeats.
