Ben Akwuegbu Football Club will keep a date with history today, 21 March, 2024, as the young club aims to reach the prestigious Plateau State FA Cup semi finals it their first attempt just few months after its formation.

Ben Akwuegbu FC are scheduled to tackle Propel Sporting Academy on Thursday at the Zaria Road Stadium, Jos, in one of the quarter final matches.

The former Super Eagles forward, who is nicknamed 'Austria Bomber' by his fans, has never stopped funding and sponsoring football teams even before he called time on his illustrious career that spanned through Nigeria, Austria, Germany, France and England.

Yet, Austria Bomber has had a taste of football management, having earlier been appointed as Heartland of Owerri Assistant General Manager in 2011.

Now pursuing academic qualification at Angelia Ruskin University, A.R.U, Akwuegbu says he set up the club as a way of giving back to the society and ensuring he provided a veritable platform for young talented youth to Horne their skills and earn a decent living from football.

The winner in today's match between Ben Akwuegbu FC and Propel Sporting Academy will meet defending champions, Plateau Utd in the semi final.

Akwuegbu had earlier floated and funded Mbaise Lions FC and Akwuegbu United FC, Owerri.
