Heartland Wary Of Rampant Ikorodu City In Match Day Seven Dan Anyiam Stadium Thriller

Heartland of Owerri experienced captain and center-back, Nnaemeka Anyanwu is still a major doubt as Emmanuel Amuneke lines out his troops against Ikorodu City in tomorrow's NPFL Match Day Seven fixture at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

Anyanwu has been sidelined by an undisclosed injury as the now inspired Naze gradually settle down for their brand of football orchestra.

After a 2-0 decimation of Niger Tornadoes in a match day five fixture in Owerri, their first win of the season, the Naze Millionaires went to Maiduguri, saw and almost conquered El-Kanemi Warriors. Both sides eventually settled for a scoreless draw, Naze Millionaires first point on the road so far.

Same Match Day, Ikorodu City thrashed Bendel Insurance 3-0 in Lagos to set the stage for a most potential feisty contest in Owerri.

And the five time winners are well aware of this and indeed ready to tightly screwed their heads onto their necks for this crunchy contest.

"We're really grateful to God for His mercies so far. It wasn't easy. The boys did a good job in Maiduguri and that reinforces our belief in the team, God and strong feeling that things can only get better", starts Assistant Coach, Charles Uzor.

"We know very well that it won't be an easy campaign. God's in control and we believe that as we work hard, as the players continue to respond positively to the new orientation and philosophy, success will come.

"Yes, we know Ikorodu City Match won't be an easy ride. For them to beat Insurance 3-0 last week is a testament that they are good. We can only do our utmost best, believing that God will crown our effort with victory", Coach Uzor said.

Heartland are 18th on the standings with five points and -2 goals deficit. They returned from Maiduguri on Tuesday and went for a light training on Wednesday morning ahead Thursday's  Ikorodu City clash.
