Heartland Queens technical adviser, Obi Ogbala remains unfazed despite his team’s big margin of victory over visitors, Adamawa Queens in last Wednesday’s Nigeria Women’s Football League NWFL matchday 8 clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

The Owerri landladies won the epic clash with three unanswered goals as the trio, Chinyere Iheoma, Onyinyechi Kalu and Chinedu Chinaka contributed a goal each in the tie.

Ogbala said the five-star performances of his wards in the topflight clash were simply a signature of hard work and perseverance.

“The goal margin was not a surprise, I even thought it would have been more than that but it’s hard work that gave us the victory.

“Prior to the start of the season, I told them that goals count, we must make do with goals at all times.

“And you can see why we are sitting first position in the log. It’s goals that separate us from the other three contenders, so I have always reminded them that goals count in this business end of the league,” said the soft-spoken gaffer.

On the possible unavailability of key player, Mary Lucky, away to national  team assignment, Ogbala said he has a quality bench to take care of her absence.

“Right, she is going to the national team to further serve her fatherland, we have a good quality bench to take care of it,” said the former Nasarawa Amazons sweat merchant.

Next up for Heartland is a potentially fierce clash with the Oil City side, Royal Queens next Wednesday in Sapele.

“Like we said one match at a time, Adamawa Queens have come and gone, we are setting our eyes on Royal Queens match which I am not going to refer to the past that we won here by 4-0.

“We are going there to make a statement, we want to make a bold statement by qualifying for the Super Six, so every match is important to us both home and away.
