The Chairman of the FCT Football Association (FA) Abba Mourthar has described the grassroots as the basis of football development in every country.

The FA Boss who stated this in Gwagwalada, Abuja while inaugurating the Local Football Councils of the six Area Councils  said that his  commitment to the development of football at the grassroots is unequal, and  equivocally.

The newly elected chairmen and board members of Football Council of Abaji, Abuja municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje and Kwali were inaugurated.

He congratulated the new Football Council chairmen and their board members for their victory in a free and fair contest, saying their elections and inaugurations are the right steps towards rejuvenating football development at the grassroots.

He charged them  to hit the ground running at their respective Councils,  saying that the FA under   his leadership was determined to provide the enabling environment for the development of football in the federal capital city.

He commended the coaches and referees association as well as sporting media and other stakeholders for their continuous support for his board of FCT FA.

FCT’s director of sports development, Mr Istifanus Luka, who was represented at the inauguration by his deputy, Iyiola Ogundele, applauded the  giant stride of Mourthar and his Board in football development in FCT and enjoined the new chairmen of the Football Councils to emulate their boss in their respective domains.

The new Football Councils are saddled with the responsibility of developing and running the administration of football in the Area Councils of FCT, and will serve for four years tenure.
