Golden Stars FC have emerged undisputed champions of the inaugural edition of Ejike Uzoenyi Okodochukwu Street Football tournament held at the Afia 9 Square, Enugu, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

In the five-goal thrilling final, Golden Stars shocked Asata United 3-2 to take home the overall winners trophy.

Nine teams took part in the tournament floated by former Rangers and Super Eagles multiple trophy winner, Ejike Uzoenyi, few months after calling time on his glittering career that saw him lift the NPFL and Aiteo cups with Rangers and AFCON title with Super Eagles as well as CHAN bronze medal with home base Eagles.

Uzoenyi made (now late) Stephen Keshi's Super Eagles cut for the FIFA World Cup, Brazil 2014.

Uzoenyi hinted that the tournament is the first in his desire to 'give back to the society'.

'Chairman Christian Chukwu, MFR, a former Rangers captain and later coach, under who Uzoenyi played while in Rangers, was amongst the top dignitaries that graced the final game.

Chukwu, a former U17 Golden Eaglets Assistant Coach when Nigeria won the maiden edition of the then FIFA/Kodak U16 World Cup in China 1985, also coached Nigeria senior national team, Super Eagles.

The center-back during his playing days also had a feel of coaching abroad with a managerial spell at SAFA FC, Lebanon.
