Godwin Enakhena Celebrates MFM Women’s Basketball Team Championship Victory

Godwin Enakhena, a versatile journalist and sports administrator, is filled with joy as one of his key initiatives has come to fruition. He played a pivotal role behind the scenes as the MFM Women’s basketball team clinched the NBBF-Zenith Women’s Basketball League championship for the second consecutive year.

This back-to-back victory means the team will represent Nigeria at the West African zonal qualifiers for the continental championship, joining runners-up Customs in the Zone 3 competition set to take place in Liberia from October 29.

Dr. Daniel Olukoya, the founder of the Christian Ministry that oversees the team, expressed his excitement over the club’s achievement and reaffirmed his ongoing support. It’s understood that youth empowerment through sports is a key component of the clergyman’s 70-point youth repositioning agenda.

He is thrilled that his support has provided opportunities for these young athletes, steering them away from the streets and into meaningful activities.

Enakhena shared the inspiring journey of the MFM Women’s Basketball Club: “When I first envisioned this project six years ago, it was to align with the MFM General Overseer’s 70-point youth repositioning agenda. He invests millions of naira into various initiatives for the youth, with sports being one of them.”

“This includes free tuition, free accommodation, and other empowerment programs,” he added.

“As my name suggests (Godwin), I strive to win in everything I do, giving my utmost effort and leaving the rest to God.”

He expressed gratitude to Dr. Olukoya and his wife, the players—the true heroes of this achievement—the coaching staff, his media colleagues for their support, and all his well-wishers. “Power to the Girl-Child. God bless you all.”
