Akwa Ibom State welcomes a new football club, Godswill Akpabio United Football Club, registered with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and affiliated with the Akwa Ibom State Football Association.

The club aims to participate in the 2024/2025 Nigerian National League (NNL) and has begun preparations for the season.

During a courtesy visit to the State FA at the Uyo Township Stadium, General Manager Kufre Inima (Kokoty) outlined the club's objectives:

1. Unite Akwa Ibom youths through football.
2. Discover and develop hidden talents.
3. Gain promotion to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) next season.

Inima assured cooperation with the State FA.

State FA Chairman Samuel Umoh praised the club's management for their gesture and encouraged them to recruit quality players.

Umoh pledged support for all affiliated teams, ensuring their success.

Attendees included members of the State FA Board.

Godswill Akpabio United FC is set to begin recruitment of players and officials, gearing up for a strong debut season.
