Glory Ogbonna and Taiwo Lawal on Target as Besiktas Edge Unye Kadin in Turkiye

Nigerian stars Glory Ogbonna and Taiwo Lawal were both on the scoresheet as Besiktas secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Unye Kadin in the Turkish Women’s Super League (WSL) on Sunday.
The match kicked off with an early breakthrough for Besiktas, as Cameroonian forward Kome Fadimatou opened the scoring in the 11th minute.
However, Unye Kadin responded strongly, with Lawal netting the equalizer just after the half-hour mark, bringing her tally to four goals in the league this season.
As the game seemed destined for a draw, Ogbonna stepped up in the dying moments, scoring a dramatic 90th-minute winner to seal all three points for Besiktas. It was her first goal of the season for the Turkish giants.
The victory keeps Besiktas in third place on the league table with 40 points after 18 games. They will now shift focus to their next fixture against Trabzonspor on March 9, 2025.
