Nigeria international Gift Monday continued her impressive form, helping Costa Adeje Tenerife secure a thrilling 2-1 comeback win over Athletic Bilbao in Liga F on Saturday.

After recently scoring for Nigeria in a friendly against Algeria, Monday returned to her club with a standout performance that earned her the Player of the Match award. She played a pivotal role in the victory, contributing a goal and an assist.

Athletic Bilbao opened the scoring with a stunning long-range strike from Ane Elexpuru in the fifth minute. However, Monday quickly equalized for Tenerife, heading home a precise cross from Aleksandra Zaremba.

Just before halftime, Monday turned provider, assisting Nina Richard’s goal in the 44th minute to complete the comeback, leaving Bilbao shocked.

The former Rivers Angels and Robo Queens forward played the full match, bringing her season totals to four goals and two assists in the league. Her Nigerian teammate, Rinsola Babajide, remained on the bench as an unused substitute.

With this victory, Costa Adeje Tenerife now has 12 points from eight matches, solidifying their position in the Liga F standings.
