FORMER GENERAL SECRETARY OF THE NFF BARRISTER MUSA AMADU CONGRATULATES MALLAM SHEHU DIKKO ON HIS APPOINTMENT AS NEW CHAIRMAN, NATIONAL SPORTS COMMISSION
Immediate Past General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation and Former Presidential Aspirant of the NFF, Barrister Musa Amadu has congratulated Mallam Shehu Dikko on his appointment as the new Chairman of the National Sports Commission, NSC.
The National Sports Commission is now the Apex body that regulates Sports in the country following the scrapping of the Ministry of Sports by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday.
" I think I need to first commend Mr President for the appointment of a Sports Guru who has been around for decades".
" The Appointment is freshly different as someone has now been appointed who knows the Sports terrain and would not be learning on the job".
Barrister Amadu said he is very Confident that with Dikko's vast Knowledge and experience having served in different capacities over the years in football, he has what it takes to turn Nigeria Sports Development around from the Grassroot to the Elite level.
" Dikko is a very knowledgeable administrator and has got both local and international experience as a Former Consultant to the NFF, a Former second vice President of the NFF for eight years , a Former Chairman of the League Management Company and has also held Positions in both CAF and FIFA".
" I am very sure he is not going to concentrate on Football alone but all other Sports and I have no doubt in my mind that he will look at how other Countries in the World are doing what they are doing that is giving them results".
" Funding of Sports is very key and the Envelope system we are used to will not get us the podium finish we are all looking for especially at the Olympics Games.
" This is why as Stakeholders in Sports, we are appealing to the Government to now adequately fund Sports as a National Asset".
" There are so many ways they can do that and I am very sure if we think out of the box, we will be able to get this area right and I know this is one aspect Dikko would definitely deploy all his experience to ensure we get it right".
" The brand new National Sports Commission has to be staffed with Technocrats that have the Qualifications and experience in Sports". People that can now come and work with the Chairman and give him all the support to turn around Sports Development", he said.
Barrister Amadu further added that the normal template of just populating the Sports Ministry with Civil Servants cannot be used any longer under the new National Sports Commission.
