The need for a Club in the Federal Capital Territory to be in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) next season should be seen as a collective national responsibility in view of the fact that most or all of capital cities of countries have Football Clubs playing in the highest league.

"In the case of Abuja, the Capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it is a different scenario. It is time to change the narratives for good. It is time for a Club in the FCT to be counted among the 20 Football Clubs in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). It is time to see the Sporting Supreme Football Club in the Premier league not by allocation but by merit. The merit will come by free and fair officiating which I am confident the Nigeria National League (NNL) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)  Refereeing Committee will decisively actualize".
These were the statements of Godwin Bamigboye, a foremost Sports Administrator in FCT.

Bamigboye emphasized that he has been an advocate of having a football club in Abuja playing in the Premier league but lamented that the enabling environment were not there to realize the good intentions. "These enabling environment include sports infrastructure which I have been orchestrating and the will by the Management of some of the top Clubs to venture into the capital intensiveness of playing at the Premier league", he added.

"I have observed that Sporting Supreme Football Club of Abuja looks prepared to play in the Nigeria Professional Football League. They have a good structure including travelling by air to honour their away matches, though playing in the second tier of the Nigerian League. "You will agree with me that it is only Insurance Football Club of Benin and Remo Stars FC of Ikenne, are the only NPFL teams that travel by air for their away matches", Bamigboye explained.

 He explained further that his support for Sporting Supreme Football Club is not to give them undue advantage or allocate a premier league slot to them, rather it is a call for deliberate free and fair officiating so that the best emerges among the NNL Super 8 Teams for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
