The excitement is reaching fever pitch across the Federal Capital Territory as the much-awaited Montage FM 99.7 Area Councils Football Tournament officially kicks off this Saturday. Fans from all six area councils are gearing up for a thrilling display of grassroots football as 24 teams battle for glory, honour, and a prize pool exceeding ₦2 million.

 

In Abaji, where the opening-day spotlight will shine brightest, Future Planners lock horns with Dream Team in what promises to be a fiercely competitive encounter. The second Abaji fixture will see Emirate Stars square up against Abaji FA.

 

Over in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Gum FA will have a tough test as they host FC Liberty Int’l, while 2K 19 face Peculiar FC in another highly anticipated match.

 

Bwari Area Council fans will be treated to a double dose of action with Chidex FC taking on Dutse United, followed by a clash between Kubwa FC and White Pigeon.

 

In Gwagwalada, Bucknor FC awaits Soccer Talents, and Medical Strikers will battle Sensational Stars, both promising fixtures for lovers of fast-paced football.

 

Kwali Area Council will witness Kolo Babes play ECN Global Academy, while Sheda United go head-to-head with Otega FA. Meanwhile in Kuje, Crown Tee FC face Ultimate FC, and KANGO FC will tackle Amazing Grace FC.

 

Speaking ahead of the opening matches, tournament coordinator Mr. Raphael Ekpang assured fans that all logistics have been carefully put in place to ensure a smooth competition. He also urged residents across all area councils to come out and cheer their favourite teams to victory.

 

“Montage FM 99.7 is setting the pace in its determination to foster unity among communities across the FCT, identify and promote raw football talent, encourage physical fitness and discipline, and curb youth restiveness,” Ekpang noted.

 

This year’s edition, themed “Montage FM 99.7: Empowering Youth, Uniting Communities Through Football,” has been widely praised for its role in strengthening community ties while providing young players a platform to showcase their skills.

 

As the tournament kicks off this weekend, expectations are sky-high, and football lovers across the FCT are set for weeks of action, passion, and unforgettable grassroots football moments.
