Ex Internationals Cup: Thrilling First Leg Results in Round of 16 Matches
FC Udeze 4-1 FC Okpara
Stephen Okpeche, Rashidi Anifowoshe, and Olakunle Irinyemi were among the scorers as FC Udeze took a significant step towards the Nigeria Ex Internationals Cup quarter-finals with a commanding 4-1 victory over a 10-man FC Okpara in their last-16 first leg.
FC Udeze opened the scoring with a brilliant free kick from Okpeche. FC Okpara equalized on 10 minutes with a penalty converted by Johnson Adeaga. However, Anifowoshe restored Udeze's lead just before the break with a world-class free kick.
The second half saw FC Okpara reduced to 10 men when Oriyomi Adesegun was sent off in the 55th minute. FC Udeze capitalized, with Olakunle scoring from a set-piece, followed by Okpeche's second goal eight minutes later. The pace slowed after that, and only a miracle in the return leg can prevent FC Udeze from reaching the last eight.
FC Nwosu 1-1 FC Amoo
FC Nwosu and FC Amoo played to a 1-1 draw. Friday Jatau gave FC Amoo the lead with a chip into the top corner in the first half. Zamalek star Samson Akinyoola equalized for FC Nwosu with a one-time strike from a goalmouth scramble.
FC Ikpeba 1-1 FC Ipaye
FC Ikpeba and FC Ipaye also finished 1-1. Ayodele Isiah scored from the penalty spot to put FC Ikpeba ahead. However, FC Ipaye dominated the second half and deservedly equalized with a volley from Biokpo MacLean.
FC Ugbade 1-0 FC Dominic
Simon Cletus' 15th-minute penalty earned FC Ugbade a 1-0 victory over FC Dominic. Cletus converted after defender Osha Wasiu handled the ball in the box. FC Ugbade's disciplined defense stifled FC Dominic, leaving the visitors without any significant chances
