Former Super Eagles midfielder, Ejike Uzoenyi, has started 'giving back to the society' after calling time on his career few months ago, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

The AFCON Winner in 2013, CHAN Bronze medal winner in 2014 and Super Eagles World Cup player in Brazil 2014, is understood to have floated a community based football competition in his area in Enugu.

Known as Okodochukwu Street Football Competitiin, nine teams registered in this maiden edition which is now in its semi final stage.

"Nine teams registered for this tournament and we are now in the semi final stage", the diminutive ex Rangers midfielder told Exclusivenews.com.ng.

"The first semi final match will hold on Tuesday (today), August 29 and will involve Golden United FC and Black Stars FC, New Heaven.

"And on Wednesday, August 30, the second semi final will take place and will see Denver FC lock horns with Asata United. All the matches have 4pm kick off time", Uzoenyi said.

Checks reveal that the Afia 9 Market Square is venue for the games and that the final has been scheduled for Sunday, September 1, 2023.

Amaechi Otti, a former Rangers and then Green Eagles defender was the special guest of honour who performed the Ceremonial kick off on the opening day of the tournament.
