ECN/Gwagwalada Coaches U17 Tournament: Quarterfinal Qualifiers Emerge

Two teams have secured places in the quarterfinals of the ongoing ECN/Gwagwalada Coaches U17 Football Tournament taking place in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
In Group A, Desert Warriors have booked their quarterfinal ticket after picking up six points from their opening two matches. With one group game still to play, the Warriors have been impressive, scoring two goals without conceding any. Prime FC and Golden Boys trail behind, both on three points, and will battle for the remaining qualification spot.
Group B has also produced a confirmed qualifier, as ECN Global Academy cruised into the knockout stages with six points from two matches. They have scored seven goals and are yet to concede, underlining their dominance in the group. Cottage Academy remains in contention for the second spot in the group.
Meanwhile, qualification remains wide open in Groups C and D, with final-day matches set to determine the teams that will progress. In Group C, Bocknor Academy and DeRoyal Academy are level on four points, although Bocknor holds a slight advantage on goal difference. Similarly, in Group D, Medical Feeders and Dukpa Academy are tied on four points each and must wait until the final round of matches to decide the eventual qualifiers.
Action resumes on Monday with Ejiwumi facing Prime FC at 2:00 pm, followed by a Group A clash between Desert Warriors and Golden Boys at 4:00 pm. On Tuesday, ECN Global Academy will aim to consolidate their dominance when they take on Rising Stars at 4:00 pm. Also on Tuesday, defending champions Sensational Stars will lock horns with Cottage Academy in a decisive encounter to determine the second qualifier from Group B.
The tournament continues to gather momentum, with the final scheduled for Sunday, 8 February 2026, as teams vie for youth football glory in Gwagwalada.
