Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Musa Gusau is beaming with pride over the Super Falcons' remarkable achievements in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup and their return to the Olympics after a 16-year hiatus. Despite a disappointing outing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where they lost all three group-stage matches, Gusau praised the team's historic run at the World Cup ¹.

At the 2023 Women's World Cup, the Super Falcons made history by becoming the first African nation to progress through the group stage without a loss, earning five points and keeping two clean sheets. Their resilience and commitment caught global attention, with Gusau noting that their performance was a testament to Nigeria's improvement in women's football. 

Looking ahead, Gusau is confident about the team's potential, particularly with the upcoming 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. The Super Falcons have already qualified for the tournament, which will serve as a qualifier for the 2025 edition. Gusau also highlighted their Olympic return, stating that becoming Olympians was a significant achievement, and he's optimistic about their chances in the 2028 Olympics 

With Justin Madugu taking over as interim head coach, Gusau expressed optimism that, with the federation's support, Madugu will guide the team to greater success ¹. The future looks bright for the Super Falcons!
