Former DG Governors' Forum and Chairman Red Carpet Protocol Group, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, a seasoned public figure and former Director-General of the Governors' Forum, as well as Chairman of the Red Carpet Protocol Group, has urged the private sector to intensify their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Nigeria. 

He emphasized the need for businesses to support vulnerable communities, particularly in the wake of disasters.

He noted "The recent Mouka flood disaster in Niger State is a stark reminder of the need for collective action. I call on the private sector to demonstrate their commitment to CSR by providing support to the victims of this disaster.

 Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected." 

"According to UNICEF,at least 153 people have died following flooding on 29 May in Mokwa, Niger State, in north-central Nigeria, according to State authorities. 

"Many people, among which are children, are reportedly missing.
More than 3,000 people have been displaced, according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). 

"This includes over 1,600 children under the age of 12 and about 380 lactating mothers, according to UNICEF.

"Flooding has affected key roads and bridges, disrupting transport and economic activity. Mokwa is a transit hub, linking traders from southern Nigeria with food producers in the north. The town plays a strategic role in regional commerce and transportation.

"All hands must be on deck in ensuring protection of lives and properties in disaster control and management,let's unite, support the government and raise each other "he stated.
