Dark Side Of Sex

Dark Side Of Sex

The dark side of sexual pleasure may not be venereal diseases because there are protective measures in place; it may not be unwanted pregnancy because abortion is possible, though with possible side effects.

The dark side of ilicit sexual pleasure may not be shame  because some people have no, or have lost the value of conscience; it may not be fear of sociatal stigma because while society regard it as natural way of life, one may not care about people say.

One may escape venereal diseases, one may escape unwanted pregnancy, but one cannot escape the mental, psychological and emotional damage/trauma that is associated with it, including a shattered conscience, not forgetting some become dropouts and are set back in life.

Yes, if we confess and forsake our sins according to 1 John 1:9, “if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Old things may pass away, but the effect of past mistakes do hunt.

God does forgive, with fellowship restored with Him, but regret and forgiving oneself becomes a long term challenge, especially when it results in damage. No one eats his/her cake and still has it.

Sex is a beautiful thing, a gift of nature, but when misused it becomes an agent of destruction. It is one aspect of immorality that corrupts a person's mentality and sets one against an encounter with destiny.

Sexual immorality has the capacity to destroy a person's destiny. See Proverbs 6:32. “But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself.”

“Sexual immorality is described as a deceptive force that initially offers pleasure but results in long-term bondage, destruction of personal destiny, and spiritual separation from God.”

It has the same effect as wine but in different ways. In Proverbs 20:1, we read:
“Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."

[It warns that alcohol causes foolish behavior, deception, and aggressive action highlighting that intoxication leads to a lack of wisdom and potential destruction. This is often used to warn drinkers against addiction and the loss of self-control].

Sex, like wine (alcohol)l, offers pleasure, but the after effects of both are not favorable. When indulged in and addicted to them, it becomes difficult to quit. Some manage or struggle to quit at doctor’s recommendation, when it has resulted to a medical condition.

Nothing corrupts and defiles the mind of a young person like premarital sexual experience. It opens the flood gates of immoral activities. It has the capacity to block one's moral senses.

While premarital sex corrupts and defiles the young and unmarried, extramarital sexual relationship corrupts and defiles the married, and opens the flood gates of marital woes.

“‎Immorality corrupts by systematically eroding an individual's character, conscience, and relationships, often acting as a "downward spiral" that compromises mental, spiritual, and physical well-being.”

For consistent moral conduct, one has to avoid associating with loose people as 1 Corinthians 15:33 noted that “evil communications [or company] corrupt good manners". This biblical phrase has become an evergreen proverbial expression.

It is “a warning that close association with negative, immoral, or ungodly people will inevitably erode one's own character, morals, and habits. It also emphasizes that peer influence and companionship can shape behavior for the worse.”

Who doesn't know that spending time with individuals who possess poor, unethical, or destructive behaviors will eventually lead to the adoption of those same behaviors.

‎Worthy of note is the fact that even well-intentioned individuals can be influenced by negative environments, making it crucial to surround oneself with uplifting companions.

‎To guard against this corruption, one has to be very careful with his surroundings and social circle as they significantly impact personal character, performance, and life trajectory. Of the truth, bad company corrupts.
