One Magistrate Court for Ondo don order make dem remand one 40-year-old woman, Nafisat Lateef, over allegation say she give her tenant pikin poison after quarrel with the pikin mama.

 

According to charge sheet, the incident happen on February 4, 2026, around 6:30pm for Aliami Street, Ondo State.

 

Dem accuse Lateef say she give the small boy one liquid wey dem suspect say na poison. She still face another charge of giving person harmful chemical, wey be offence under Section 22(1) of Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law.

 

Court hear say after the pikin take the substance, he begin vomit immediately and dem rush am go nearby hospital for quick treatment. Police later arrest the woman through quick operation.

 

As she dey talk for court, Lateef say the pikin mama na her tenant and dem dey live peacefully before. She explain say the woman dey always come her shop and she dey sometimes help carry the children from school.

 

As she narrate wetin happen, she say na sudden action and she no really understand wetin come over her.

 

“I no know wetin come over me. I just go my room go bring the poison. The pikin dey with me. I use the cover put am for him mouth. After I do am, my eye clear immediately,” she talk.

 

She still tell court say after the incident, she go report herself for Ore Police Station before dem transfer the matter go Odigbo Police Station.

 

“Abeg my Lord, na devil work,” she beg.

 

The court come adjourn the case, while the woman still dey for custody pending when dem go continue the matter.
