Mixed reactions have trailed a viral video showing Nollywood actor Saidi Balogun offering heartfelt prayers for his colleague, Sanyeri, during a visit to Mecca.

 

In the clip circulating online, Balogun, who appeared to be on pilgrimage in the holy city, prayed passionately for Sanyeri’s success, long life, and protection from illness. Speaking in Yoruba, the veteran actor invoked divine blessings upon his colleague and his family.

 

“Sanyeri, I pray that this 2026 will be a joyous year for you,” Balogun said. “I pray against sickness for you, none of your family members will die. You will live long with good health.”

While many fans described the gesture as heartwarming and a testament to the bond within the Yoruba movie industry, others expressed concern over the tone of the prayers, particularly the emphasis on protection against death and sickness.

In his post, the comic actor thanked his colleague for the thoughtful gesture and prayed for God’s blessings in return, further calming speculation that there was any cause for alarm.
