A land ownership dispute has erupted between the Nkomoro Onuogba Nike community in Enugu State and former Minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji. The community alleges that Nnaji has been demolishing their ancestral homes and farmland, rendering them homeless.

During a press conference, community members carried placards and appealed to Governor Peter Mbah to intervene. They claim that Nnaji, who purchased the land from a third party, has been using armed security personnel and bulldozers to take over their land, despite a pending court case.

The community's representative, Rev. Stephen Itumo, stated that they have lived in the area for generations and have documentation to prove their ownership. They accuse Nnaji of trying to take the land by force, despite the matter being unresolved in court.

Nnaji, however, claims to have owned the land since 2000, when he purchased it from Mr. Alinta, who had bought it from the Onuogba community in 1977. He asserts that he has followed the proper legal channels to take possession of the land.

The dispute has been ongoing since 1974, with various court judgments and appeals. The community is seeking a stay of execution on the latest court order, while Nnaji maintains that he has the right to take possession of the land.
