Coal City Int'l Pre- Season Organisers Unveil Ekwueme As LOC Member
Ifeanyi Ekwueme, a former Super Eagles winger and current Enyimba of Aba Sporting Director, has joined Local Organising Committee, LOC, of the maiden edition of Coal City Int'l Pre Season Tournament billed for Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, next month.
Ekwueme was officially inducted into the Organising Committee Wednesday at a colourful unveiling ceremony Enugu.
Still fresh from overseeing the successful staging of the inaugural Nwankwo Kanu U19 Inter State Tournament in Aba, Ekwueme is also saddled withe the organisation of the Season 6 of the Annual Tico Select Pre-Season Tournament billed for the Abakaliki Stadium as well as the Coal City Int'l Pre Season Tournament.
This underscores the former Polonia Warsaw winger love in grassroot football as well as sustained efforts in uplifting it as a 'give back to the society'.
During the unveiling ceremony, Chairman of the LOC, Ifeanyi Ogbu, praised Ekwueme’s achievements and expressed confidence in his ability to contribute to the success of the tournament.
“We are delighted to have Ifeanyi Ekwueme on board,” he said.
“His experience and expertise will be invaluable in ensuring the smooth execution of the Coal City Int’l Cup which will take place at the iconic Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.”
The tournament, will feature teams from Brazil, Kenya, and other African countries, alongside top Nigerian teams.
A visibly delighted Ekwueme, over the appointment, promised to work tirelessly to ensure the tournament’s success.
“I am honored to be part of this team,” he said.
“I will bring my expertise and experience to bear, to ensure that the Tournament is a huge success and a memorable experience for all participants and spectators at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.”
The tournament is scheduled to take place in Enugu, and is expected to attract a large followership of football fans from across the country and beyond.
With Ekwueme on board, fans can expect a well-organised and thrilling tournament.
