Former Super Falcons coaches, Godwin Izilien and Edwin Okon, have charged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), to throw open the position of manager for the Super Falcons.

Izilien said the issue of getting a quality coach for the Super Falcons should be made open to avoid getting the wrong hands to handle the women’s team.

He stated that the Falcons need an experienced coach to transform the team. “It is better the NFF throws the Falcons job open to avoid domestic coaches complaining after the body picks who they want to handle the team,” he said.

“It is clear the Super Falcons could not beat England in the quarterfinal at the last Word Cup due to cluelessness on the part of the coach, especially when their opponent was one player down.

“The NFF at this point, needs to do a serious screening to get the right coach for the Falcons because the team needs serious overhauling. This is not time a group of people would pick coach of their choice without adequate screening. We need to get an experienced coach to handle the girls,” Izilien said.

On his part, Okon said that opening the Falcons’ job for coaches to apply would create competition to get the best technical hand for the team.

“For me, I am interested in coaching the Super Falcons, if the job is open for application. Getting an experienced coach would transform the team. I have produced lots of talents at the domestic league for the Super Falcons. Domestic coaches should be allowed to apply for the Falcons’ job to give equal chances to everybody,” he stated.
