The organizers of CLIMM Foundation Southeast U-16 Track and Field championship has fixed 24-27 October for the championship in Umuahia, the Abia State Capital. 

According to them, Wednesday 23 Oct 2024, has been fixed as the arrival of athletes and officials, while Thursday 24-10-2024, will be for registration/accreditation of athletes and officials. They further revealed that the preliminary and the final events will take place on Friday 25th October while the closing will take place on Saturday 26 October. The closing ceremony will also be followed with a banquet night for the athletes and officials. 

CLIMM  stands for the initials of the first names of five retired Nigerian athletes of Igbo extraction behind the program. Clement, Lee, Innocent, Mike, and Mba.

Clement Chukwu; 2000 Olympic gold medalist in the 4x400m, Lee Okoroafor; decathlete and national record holder in the decathlon for many years. 
Innocent Iheme; retired national 100m runner and long jump champion. Mike Ukaha; also a retired 100m and 200m runner. Mba Uduma; retired middle distance runner and national champion in the 1500m for many years. 

These men who are based overseas were groomed by late athletics coach Tobias Igwe.  CLIMM Foundation serves as their own way of giving back to society.

 
The athletic championship which started In 2021, had its  first edition  at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu. The 2nd edition took place in 2023  at the University of Nigeria UNN mini Stadium Nsukka. While, the 3rd edition was at Umuahia Township Stadium Umuahia, same to the 4th edition coming up later in the year. 

 Imo State won the last edition, and many young athletes have been discovered in the last 3 years, who are currently being nurtured in various parts of the world. 

The remote aim of the championship is to restore the dominance of Southeast in Nigeria athletics.
