The Confederation of African Sports Supporters (CASS) has officially confirmed the appointment of Rev. Samuel Ikpea as Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Sports Fan Awards: Nigeria 2026.

 

The confirmation was made by the CASS Executive Bureau in line with Resolution 3 of the CASS meeting held in Casablanca, Morocco, on January 8, 2026. The decision underscores CASS’ commitment to strengthening fan engagement and celebrating the contributions of sports supporters across the continent.

 

Rev. Ikpea, who currently serves as Chairman of the Nigerian Fans, is widely regarded as a leading figure in sports fan mobilization and advocacy in Nigeria. His appointment is expected to bring credibility, experience, and strong organizational leadership to the planning and execution of the 2026 Sports Fan Awards.

 

The Sports Fan Awards aim to recognize outstanding supporters, fan groups, and initiatives that promote sportsmanship, unity, and positive fan culture within African sports.

 

The announcement was formally endorsed by the President of CASS, Mr. Stanislas Michel G., who expressed confidence in Rev. Ikpea’s ability to successfully lead the organizing committee and deliver a memorable Nigeria 2026 edition of the awards.
