British-Nigerian Singer Darkoo Shares Emotional Journey of Coming Out to Parents
British-Nigerian singer Darkoo has courageously opened up about her experience of coming out as a lesbian to her Nigerian parents. In a heartfelt interview on The Appointment Show with Layo, Darkoo shared the challenges and ultimate acceptance she received.
"Telling my mum felt like a massive weight off my shoulders, and I've been happy since then," Darkoo revealed. While her father was more receptive, her mother struggled due to their close bond and cultural background.
"It was harder with my mum...very emotional," Darkoo admitted. However, her parents have since accepted and love her unconditionally.
"I bring girls home, and my parents don't mind. They love me for me," Darkoo said, emphasizing her commitment to living authentically.
"This is what makes me happy, and I feel whole. I'm not faking it," she stated, citing her spiritual connection and clean conscience.
