Nationwide League One (NLO) side, Bright Stars Football Club of Aba, held Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) outfit Abia Warriors to a 1-1 draw in a keenly contested friendly match played on Tuesday.

 

The match, held at the Amapu Ntigha Mini-Stadium, was part of Bright Stars’ preparations ahead of the upcoming NLO season set to kick off later this month.

 

Abia Warriors drew first blood just before the end of the first half, with Philip Ogwuche finding the back of the net. Bright Stars responded late in the second half through Emmanuel Joshua, leveling the score.

 

Both teams, coached by Imama Amapakabo (Abia Warriors) and Chijioke Osuagwu (Bright Stars), displayed tactical discipline, resilience, and flashes of football brilliance throughout the encounter.

 

Bright Stars recently secured a slot in the NLO and are determined to make a strong impression in the league. Head coach Chijioke Osuagwu expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness, stating that the team is fully focused on securing promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL) next season.

 

Club proprietor, Mr. Bright Saviour (popularly known as Ekpez), shared his optimism, affirming his commitment to the club’s success. “We are prepared and determined to excel in all our endeavors,” he said.
