One police officer for Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Borno State Command, Mohammad Alhaji Muhammad, don earn praise after he return ₦2.6 million wey mistakenly enter him bank account.

 

The matter come to light after Bello Jafar post am for Facebook on Friday, February 6, 2026. According to Jafar, the money come from one customer of fintech company, Moniepoint, enter Muhammad account by error.

 

Jafar explain say Muhammad, wey be customer of United Bank for Africa (UBA), no ignore the alert like say nothing happen. Instead, he take steps to trace where the money come from and ensure say dem return am to the rightful owner.

 

“I wan officially appreciate Mohammad Alhaji Muhammad, loyal UBA customer and police officer wey get high integrity,” Jafar write.

 

He add say, “Mr Mohammad receive wrong transfer from Moniepoint customer. Rather than keep quiet, he make deliberate effort to identify the bank and make sure say the money return complete to the real owner.”

 

Jafar describe the action as sign of strong moral values and discipline, say such honesty dey rare.

 

“This action show high level of honesty, responsibility and moral discipline. E reflect the true values wey dem expect from police officer and e deserve recognition,” he add.

 

He also talk say acts like this fit help change the way people dey see law enforcement officers.

 

“Actions like this dey build public trust and show why integrity matter both for work and personal life,” Jafar conclude.

 

Meanwhile, Borno State Police Command don also confirm the incident. The Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso, share transaction receipt wey show say ₦2,618,720 don return back to the rightful owner.

 

Daso post the receipt with caption, “POLICE OFFICER COMMENDED FOR RETURNING ₦2.6 MILLION FROM ERRONEOUS TRANSFER,” as many Nigerians praise the officer for him honesty.
